Papertrey Ink Make it Monday #90: Creating Focal Point Sentiments with Stamps & Dies

This was a fun challenge! I used the new Peaceful Pinecones stamp set. I die cut the word COZY instead of stamping it. I ran the letters through my Xyron machine and added flock that I had completely forgotten about. The flocked letters were so easy that I plan to use the technique more often.

Winter Woodland Christmas

Its looked like a Christmas workshop around here the last few weeks. There is glitter from one end of the house to the other. I thought I would give you a peek at whats coming to Brandywine Designs in the next few days!

Make It Monday #89: Creating Windows

This weeks Make It Monday's was to make a window with a cut out. I went a step further and made it a shaker card. The little frosted pine cones and vintage mica will be in my etsy shop soon. I just adore PTI's new Pine cone stamps!

Zucchini Banana Bread

I'm really awesome at eating baked goods, but not so great at baking. One of my goals for this summer is to get better at baking. I had some zucchini from my garden, tons of fresh eggs from my chickens,  and a bunch (no pun intended) of overripe bananas. I wanted something healthier than banana bread so I went with Zucchini Banana Bread. I looked and looked for just the right recipe and didn't find it. Sooo I adapted several and made my own and to my astonishment its really good!
My son and stepsons even liked it! Here is the recipe:

Healthy Zucchini Banana Bread

  • 1 cup white flour
  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup rolled oat
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  •  1/2 cup of splenda
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2cups white sugar
  • 1/4 cup oil
  •   1 teaspoon salt
  •   5 small overripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups shredded zucchini
  • 1 cup Walnuts
  • Directions:

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. Whisk together white flour, wheat flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon,  and salt.
    3. In  separate bowl, beat the eggs.
    4. Add the sugar, oil, and mashed bananas to the eggs; mix well.
    5. Add the vanilla.
    6. Combine  wet and dry mixtures. Stir until  combined.
    7. Fold in the zucchini and walnuts
    8. Pour into 2 lightly greased loaf pans (9x5-inch).
    9. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean

    Happy Baking!

Make It Monday #65: Background Patterns

I decided to live on the wild side and use my paper scraps diagonally instead of across. All the papers are Papertrey Ink. I don’t know why the turtle dots look blue. They are aqua. Enjoy!

6x6 Paper Scraps & Ink Storage

I thought I would share with you how I store some of my supplies today. Since I have taken up card making I have been collecting 6x6 paper pads. They fit perfectly in this basket I bought at Hobby Lobby. Its very sturdy and has a great handle. It has held up really well for all the traveling back and forth from shelf to table. Those paper pads may be small but all added up can weigh quite a bit.
Now I really like to save every tiny scrap of paper. But, I also want to know what paper pad it came from. I take a glassine resealable bag and attache it to the back of the paper pad using my ATG gun making sure the top or flap is on the front. Now I have a pocket to store all my scraps in! So far this has worked really great for me.
I thought I would also show you my current ink storage. I'm not in love with it because its not portable but its doing the job of seeing all my ink easily. I bought a Expandable Shelf Organizer from Lowe's. I just put it in my shelf and added ink. It also works great for storing wood stamps.

I added a "Follow Me" button at the top right side of my blog.

All my favorite patterns and colors. Instead of a card I made this little canvas to hang in my kitchen. I used the new Strawberry Patch stamps and dies again. Make It Monday #63: Glitter Die Cuts

It feels so awesome to get back to making cards. I have been so busy. Creating cards is such a stress reliever. I need to make myself carve out more time to do them.
Today's Make It Monday challenge is to use Die cuts with glitter. I have been doing this awhile and love it. Its so easy! I use a Xyron sticker machine. I have the tiniest one to the biggest one. I love them.
This card was inspired by the spiritual work I have been doing. I have been going through some rough stuff life has been throwing at me. I have been trying to learn how to live in the moment and reduce stress. I have been taking a quilt to the back yard, laying in the grass, and just enjoying my surroundings. It works like magic. No matter what is going on I become happy, calm, and in the moment.  So this is my Enjoy Every Moment Quilt card!
